Advocacy & Grassroots Activities
The CPMS represents the interests of members through involvement in many organizations. The CPMS functions as a grassroots organization to support or oppose legislative initiatives that impact the practice of medicine and patient care. We are a voice representing our colleagues and patients at the state and national governments. A strong bond has been developed over many years with the SW LA Legislative delegation. Annual meetings are held before each Legislative session begins to convey the concerns of the physician community and offering the expert views and guidance as they formulate their positions on matters of medicine.
Mediation and Issue Resolution
The CPMS’ Ethics and Grievance Committee’s goal is to preserve relationships and helps members and patients resolve misunderstandings and communication difficulties. This valuable service assists physicians and patients in settling disputes as an alternative to the patient seeking resolution within the legal system.
Networking Opportunities
General membership meetings and social functions create a forum for physicians to get to know each other. There is no cost for meals for the physician member and their spouse.
Opportunities to Serve Your Organization
As a member you are eligible to serve on the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society Board of Directors, Committees or Task Forces. In addition, you are eligible to serve as a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to the LSMS House of Delegates.
