History
Founded in 1898: The Calcasieu Parish Medical Society (CPMS) was established as a professional organization dedicated to advancing the medical field and supporting physicians in the area.
Early Advocacy: In 1908, CPMS, in collaboration with the Louisiana State Medical Society, played a crucial role in passing the Medical Practice Act. This act facilitated the creation of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME), responsible for licensing medical practitioners and ensuring high standards in the profession.
Ongoing Commitment: Throughout its history, CPMS has remained steadfast in its dedication to safe, high-quality, and responsible medical practice, continually working to uphold these standards for the benefit of both physicians and patients.
